Our eighth Hindu World Prayer Focus booklet was originally produced for use Nov 8 - 22, 2020. It is still available to be used by Christians and churches to learn about and pray for our world's over one billion Hindu neighbors. Schedule any 15 days or set aside these 15 days around Diwali, one of Hinduism's most popular annual festivals: Oct 29 - Nov 14, 2021 or Oct 18 - Nov 12, 2022.
The booklets (available in printed and PDF version) help Christians to know how to pray for the people(s) growing up within this major and very diverse world religion.
Can you freely distribute the file? Diwali (or Deepawali) is known as the Hindu Festival of Lights, and is one of India's most important annual celebrations, lasting about 4-5 days. While (similar to Christmas celebrations in the Christian world) it has historical and religious roots, Indians of all stripes celebrate it by lighting and displaying rows of small oil lamps, participating in family gatherings, consuming special sweets and watching fireworks.
It is not our intention with this prayer focus to disparage India or the Hindu religion. in any way. We recognize that both are far too complex and too full of great traditions to simply or easily condense, explain or take lightly within a mere booklet.
But, at the same time, it is no secret that as Christians, we long that all the world's people(s) will have an opportunity to freely see, hear and understand the grace of God incarnated in Jesus Christ. To this end we inform ourselves, pray for and want to support respectful efforts to make that grace known also within the world's Indian and Hindu communities.
We have published prayer guides since 1993. Our passion is to help Christians learn about, pray for and engage our world's neighbors. WorldChristian is not a large organization with development staff and foundational grants. We are a small family that operates out of a converted two-car garage. We invest our personal financial resources each year, hoping that sales AND donations will enable to us to continue producing informative prayer guides. To contribute financially toward our ministry:
